I have literally dyed, chopped, crimped, permed, shaved… You get the picture. I’ve done everything I could ever do to my hair, it’s been blonde, brown, black, red, orange, pink; you name it, I’ve dyed it.

Upon finding out one of my best friends was getting married I decided to change my wild ways and dye my hair one last colour that won’t look odd in her wedding photographs in another 20 years or so. I didn’t want to look back and cringe at my hair so I finally decided to go for something Kate Walsh-ish.

A neutral mahogany reddish brown. Little did I know that my dreams of mahogany would turn into a mah-AGONY. I went to my trusted Audrey at The Cutting Edge. She started by stripping the black (and surplus of colours beneath it) out of my hair, no I did not put peroxide in my hair and turn it white, she literally with her hands (and some chemicals) streaked all the colour out of my hair.

I had my Kate Walsh ‘do but little did I know that the colour would start fading out a week later so I was left with random orange bits here and there. I fixed it but now I’m worried about what will happen in another 10 days time.

I know I haven’t posted for like – ever. I’ve been really busy with life I guess. R and D are busy in university and I’m busy waiting for university to start. I guess I’m just going to have one post & ramble on about everything I’ve wanted to post about in the past few months.

1) Thigh high boots. Yay, nay?

I, personally could never pull of thigh high boots due to my thunder-thighs, but if you have the thighs for it then I think its a full on ‘yay’. I believe they look better in suede, leather thigh highs are a little slutty in my honest opinion; but then again, paired with a lovely cream, lace, coco mini dress, pearls, a Blair Woldorf style head band, black leather thigh high boots would look lovely. Anyhow, here are my finds:

Here are the Christian Louboutin boots I found, 4.5 inches high, they come with a high price tag of around 1,110 UK pounds, they’re a lovely addition to any true fashion addicts shoe closet but if you’re looking for something a little more reasonably priced then read on…

These Zara boots I found online at a very reasonable price of 70 UK pounds. Upon finding them in Zara at The Avenues they were priced at KD 70, yes, they did just change the currency. They’re suede, they also come in black and grey, the grey ones on the other hand have a heel of about 4 inches.

2) Nail Polish Colours for AW09

I’ve personally put away my Funky Lime Light and Bermuda Shorts.

and brought out the Minty Candy Apple & Mink Muffs

Forget the firey pinks, bright purples, neon yellows and electric blues this season. Colder colours like jade and baby blue are in this season. You could also stick to a french manicure, but if you’re like me and a little bit of a wild child you could replace your usual Sugar Daddy or Ballet Slippers with a more alluring colour, I think I used either Lovey Dovey or Fiesta in this picture. I grew quite fond of it while my manicurist was in the process of painting my nails, but being the nail polish freak that I am ended up changing it within the hour.

… Only style remains the same

I recieved an email from a friend of mine studying in the London college of Fashion. She is a very promising young lady who I believe will one day make it big. I particularly liked one of the pictures she sent me.

This is a picture from a photoshoot that she was in charge of. It’s inspired by the Coco avant Chanel movie. The photo spread is for a magazine called 6.9 in London which will hopefully be published soon (all at the age of 17 by the way) My hopes are set high for Karima Qazi and I believe I will not be let down.

So this outfit I put together extremly quickly, R was coming to pick me up and I was still in my PJ’s studying. I grabbed the first tshirt (Footlocker in The States) off the pile in my cupboard, the same leggings from my Boy meets Girl post. I put a waist belt on with a gold buckle (I have no idea where it’s from, not vintage, just old) and my long gold chain, it has a magnifying glass at the bottom (vintage Coco Chanel) and my I’m not a plastic bag (Anya Hindmarch) bag.

To finish this outfit off I put on my heels that I picked up from Topshop, they look very Chloe, here’s a picture of them with my other choice of footwear in the background:

I ended up putting my Havainas on towards the end of the night, there’s only so much a girl can handle, and 5 inches from 4 till 10 is a no no.

Here are a few different types of headbands that I like, excuse the bad photography I cropped them out of pics of me I found on my computer, the first one is actually one of my favourites, I picked this scarf up from a stall in Bombay when I went with the girls 10 months ago, this scarf I would put on when I’m having a bad hair day and just want to leave the house in my PJ’s. I’ve personally always loved this look, way before everyone else did.

This headband I bought from H&M, I used bright blue eye liner that I picked up from MAC in Greece back in ’05. This look you can play with quite a bit, I decided to go for something a little edgy, you could tone it down with some black eyeliner or smoky eyes. For the less eccentric look you could go for a pair of skinny jeans and a loose T shirt, don’t forget to layer, a waist coat, scarf, bulky necklaces. For a more daring look you could go for a royal blue T shirt dress and some bold pumps.

I actually have no clue where I bought this headband from, I remember buying it for a Halloween party where I wanted to be a bumblebee but never really used it, I dug it up from the bottom of my headband box. ( I actually just took this picture about 5 minutes ago so excuse my messy sleep hair) I personally believe this head band is a little too daring for Kuwait, it has to be worn in the right place at the right time, with the right top, I’m thinking a T shirt dress a little to the eccentric side, some bold neon colour blocks. Bulky jewelry and a pair of neon flats.

This head band has been in R’s house for EVER I have no idea where I bought it, it’s very flapper metallic meets Mary Kate Olsen, this could be worn with something dressed down and paired with an equally metallic pair of heels. Dress it in a classic way with a pair of pearl earrings or dress it more hippi-ly with a pair of feather earrings a la nicole in the video I hate this part right here.

So I woke up this morning running late as usual (and funnily enough I did NOT make it on time) so I picked up my tights off the post of my bed and a grey t shirt (Sears, from the mens section) thinking the outfit was too plain for university I put on my denim waist coat (H&M from last season) and my Laurel Burch scarf that a friend of mine bought for me from China. I could not be bothered to go my shoe closet and pick out some heels so I pulled out my black Havianas from under my bed, grabbed my keys and just walked out of the house.

I was always a person that went with black and white. I love the concept of black and white together. But after I watched Confessions of a Shopaholic I got inspired to play with colors. I’ve only just started so I dont want to go all out there I’m still taking baby steps, and this was my first attempt.

I’m wearing a black and white dress from H&M,which I got recently so it should still be there. My tights are from Party Land in Shuwaikh (LOL, I know, don’t judge) my shoes are a steal version of Michael Kors ‘Danger’ shoes, they are actually from Nine West and are a fraction of the price. I picked up my bolero from a thrift store in Bombay.

Coco avant Chanel

The French movie ‘Coco avant Chanel’ came out a little under 2 weeks ago, I’m still waiting to get my hands on it so I can have a movie night with the girls and we can watch it.
The lead role in the movie, Gabrielle Chanel aka Coco, is played by French actress Audrey Tautou.
The film is directed by Anne Fontaine, she has written and directed 11 movies, she was nominated for 5 awards and has won 2, one at the Venice Film Festival and one at Prix Jean Vigo.
The title of the movie literally translates to Coco before Chanel.

It’s basically a look at Coco’s life before stardom, back when she was a 10 year old at an orphanage, which is where she first learned to sew clothes and then moved out at the age of 18 to work and shortly after fell in love with a millionaire, Etienne Balsan.

A little Coco trivia for you:

Coco was a Leo
Coco lived in the Ritz hotel in Paris for over 30 years which is where she died, although she was buried in Switzerland.
Coco was the only person in the field of fashion to be named on TIME magazine’s 100 most influential people of the 20th century.
In 1957 Coco won the Neiman Marcus fashion award .
At the age of 18 Coco started working at a local tailor
